KM SELECTS NEW SROs!!! KM Kettle Moraine is pleased to welcome two dedicated professionals as our new Student Resource Officers. James Briesemeister joins us following 25 years with the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department. During his career, he proudly served on the Tactical Enforcement Unit, Motor Unit, and Honor Guard, and completed Crisis Intervention, Tactical EMS, and Active Shooter Training. After filling in for Jamie, he shared that stepping into the School Resource Officer role was an easy decision, having been impressed by his interactions with KM students and staff at the high school, sporting events, prom, and parades. He looks forward to beginning this new chapter with the Kettle Moraine community. Deputy Briesemeister is married, has a teenage son, and coaches youth sports. Joining him is Jesus Rosa, who has been with the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department since 2020. He served one year as a correctional officer before becoming a road deputy in 2021. As a SWAT team negotiator with Crisis Intervention Training, Officer Rosa brings strong communication skills and a thoughtful approach to de-escalation and conflict resolution. He also serves as a Spanish translator for his department, helping connect with a broader community of families. A wrestling coach, he is passionate about mentoring youth and promoting discipline, respect, and teamwork. Officer Rosa shared that he is proud to bring these experiences together to help create a safe, supportive, and positive school environment for KM. We also extend our gratitude to Deputy Jamie Soneberg, who will retire July 1, and congratulate Alyssa Cattani on her promotion to Lieutenant. Officer Rosa has been serving in the role on an interim basis during this transition. Please join us in welcoming Officers Briesemeister and Rosa to Kettle Moraine.

KM SHOWCASE/4K FAIR HIGHLIGHTS OPPORTUNITIES FOR LEARNERS OF ALL AGES!!! About 150 families signed up to attend the KM Showcase and 4K Fair. The 4K-12 event brought families together from throughout the region for an evening centered on exploration, connection, and opportunity. With attendance surpassing previous years, the event provided a welcoming environment for those considering educational options for their children. Guests met directly with teachers, administrators, and students while touring our high school and learning about academic programs, extracurricular activities, and support services. One family described the experience as “So beyond what we expected when we signed up. We were able to register both of our children and sign them up for a bunch of clubs and sports teams. The tour was amazing.… We are blown away.” Others discovered options they hadn’t previously considered. A homeschool parent shared, “I did not realize our daughter could be taking advantage of partial attendance or even virtual enrollment. This opens up so many options for us as a family and also for her socially.” For families just beginning their school journey, the event offered reassurance and excitement. One 4K parent said they were “grateful for the child care area and enjoyed meeting teachers and learning about the different 4K programs.” They enrolled in our Forest 4K program and left feeling confident about the year ahead knowing that wrap care and transportation would be available. Hands-on STEM displays, vibrant arts programs, and conversations with students helped bring learning to life. One parent whose son had just applied to KM Global was excited to learn he can schedule courses in all of our high schools. Their son “is very interested in business and marketing, but is also creative and was interested in some of the offerings through Perform. That flexibility will allow him to pursue both and makes our choice much easier." As the evening concluded, families left not only with information, but with a sense of belonging. We wish to extend a special thank you to Culver’s for providing boxed meals; our early childhood team for facilitating the child care area; and to the many staff, students, and community members whose dedication made the showcase such a meaningful success.

KMMS MATHLETES AT MATH 24 REGIONALS!!! KM Mathletes took the gold at the Regional Math 24 Competition at Washington-Caldwell. Watching a student solve a Math 24 card is remarkably similar to watching a speedcuber solve a Rubik’s Cube. Fingers move in a blur, and the puzzle seems to solve itself—but look closer, and you’ll see it isn’t luck; it’s high-speed pattern recognition. Just as a cuber recognizes a specific orientation of colors and executes a muscle-memory algorithm to snap them into place, these students look at a deck and see mathematical algorithms doing gymnastics, searching for the right face to turn. The competition showcased two distinct levels of mental agility. While sixth graders mastered the Integers deck, navigating the core relationships of whole numbers, seventh graders tackled the daunting Fractions & Decimals deck. To those new to Math 24, seeing a student instantly process a 1/8 fraction and seamlessly integrate it into a multi-step equation to reach the target of 24 is nothing short of wizardry. Whether multiplying by the reciprocal or finding a clever common denominator, these young mathematicians proved that with enough practice and passion, any numerical puzzle can be solved with elegance and speed. Congratulations to our 6th and 7th grade teams and our high point scorers. 6th Grade Team: Parker H, Sawyer T,Logan R, Aidan Hughes (Team High Point Recipient), Max W, Andrew C. Individual Overall High Point Awards: Sawyer T (3rd), Logan R (2nd), Aidan H: (1st). 7th Grade Team: Bryce H, Evan G, Aaron S (Team High Point Recipient), Daxton Z, Leo K, Jordan S. Individual Overall High Point Awards: Bryce (6th), Evan G (3rd), Aaron S (1st).

KM PERFORM CENTERSTAGE!!! Classroom Centerstage, is a brand new program in KM Perform where students produce a live music series recorded right in their classroom! The space is set up like a “Tiny Desk” concert with a 4 camera production crew, live audience, host, and performer. Mike Callies developed the concept as way to partner with local artists and provide additional opportunities for his students to learn valuable production skills. He was able to secure a grant from the Kettle Moraine Education Foundation (KMEF) for much of the equipment. Scott Curty donated additional items, as well as his production talents, to help bring this vision to life. KM alumni Garrett Waite, was the first guest, sharing a short interview and live performance with film students who will then produce a video to be released next week.

At Kettle Moraine, we see education as a lifelong journey—one that is enriched by recreation, connection, and shared experiences across generations.
