NATIONAL TEACHERS HALL OF FAME!!!! Mr. Kaldhusdal is one of only five teachers from across the United States to be inducted into the National Teachers Hall of Fame for the class of 2024. Ironically, two came from southeast Wisconsin. Terry learned of the honor during a surprise announcement at Kettle Moraine Middle School. The event was attended by his current sixth grade students, the forensic team he advises, and many colleagues and friends from throughout his time in education. Former students Emma Manion and Krin Blegen, both in HS^2, spoke eloquently about how he has supported their growth, made them critical thinkers, inspired them to become better citizens, and instilled a pattern of lifelong learning. Look for more information soon in an upcoming Laser Focused and Capturing KM Video!

GREAT TRACK MEET!!!
Recently the boys and girls HS Track & Field teams competed at the Nelson Daniels Invite at UW Whitewater. Both teams earned a 2nd place finish out of 24 teams, our highest finish ever at the ND Classic.
While there were many great performances during the day, 3 events highlighted the Lasers success. On the boys side the 4x800 relay had a phenomenal comeback win on the anchor leg run by Ryan Keller. Keller got the baton in 6th place and came roaring back after the first lap to take the lead heading into the home stretch.
On the girls side the 4x200 and 4x400 relays ran into the record books. The 4x200 took second overall but set the indoor school record with a 1:50.28. (Ranked 3rd in the state) In the 4x400 relay the girls crushed the field cruising to victory with a school record time of 4:10.97. This time currently ranks them 2nd in the state!

KMMS AND KMHS JAZZ IN THE KETTLE!! Jazz In the Kettle featured close to a hundred student performers. It was held in the high school auditorium, and showcased KM's strong Jazz program. EXPLORE NIGHT ON THE TITANIC EVENT!!! KM Explore 2/3 celebrated a Night on the Titanic last week. As a culmination of their reading/writing program, the kids researched and wrote a historical fiction piece about a particular person who was present on the ship. Then, they practiced their learning by becoming that character for one night to celebrate their learning. Activities included using Morse code to solve math problems, sampling food from the Titanic’s last meal, using foil boats and washers to explain surface density and displacement of water, as well as reading their writing pieces to families. To top off the night, each child had a portrait taken in their period costumes and a video was produced of them reading their pieces as a keepsake of the experience.
THANK YOU KM NATION FOR THE WARM WISCONSIN WELCOME FOR MS. VUILLAME!

Congratulations to the team on an amazing season! Go Lasers!
CUSHING GETS VISIT FROM KMHS STARS!! Coach Mac and two of his players, Nolan and Noah, spent lunch and recess with 4th graders at Cushing Elementary! They helped to reinforce important recess rules, and spoke about expectations and sportsmanship. Coach Mac reminded us that even though we might be on different teams during recess, we're all part of one big team KM. It was a wonderful learning opportunity and the students really responded to their message.
