As our staff and families prepare for a new school year, there are many events taking place all over our district! There have been great starts, orientations, family picnics, open houses, and even a playground grand opening! This is an exciting time at all of our schools and we'd love to share some of the highlights.
Last night Cushing opened their playground with a ribbon-cutting event that drew a huge crowd. They had everything from face painting to food trucks and it was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the new facilities and sharing in the celebration.
The accessible and adventurous playground was designed with student input and was only made possible through the hard work of Cushing Staff, PTO, and parents. Our KMSD maintenance crew deserves special recognition for installing all of the new equipment and preparing the area for future use. We are so proud of what has been accomplished and want to thank our KM Community for their donations and support as we developed this incredible project!
Magee also held their back to school bash last night and families were lined up excitedly to enjoy the fun! There was a bounce house, music by DJ Otto, an ice cream truck, face painting and a number of great raffle baskets. Thank you to the PTO, families, and staff members who organized and participated in this event!
Dousman staff and PTO welcomed families back to school with our second annual Back to School Family Picnic on Thursday evening. Due to the tremendously high heat index, the picnic was moved indoors to the gym and cafeteria, however, we didn't let it fry our fun! Well over 300 students, parents and family members enjoyed meeting and reconnecting with Dousman staff. Special thank you to the Dousman PTO for providing the food and to Mr. Steckbauer, Mr. Russart and Cub Scout Pack 73 for grilling and serving the hotdogs and brats.
KMMS also held their Orientation/open house. It was a huge hit with families and students alike. This year, students received their locks in advance to get used to them prior to the big day. This made for a very smooth transition as families were able to avoid the lines, visit, drop off supplies, and explore the school. Special thanks to the middle school staff who attended this event!
The Wales Campus had a Great Start with Mario Kart! New students and incoming 5K students reported today for a half day and the staff did not disappoint! They made it a really fun experience and welcomed families dressed as their favorite Mario Kart characters. The kids were able to meet new friends and get to know their teachers in preparation for the first day of school on September 5th!
