Drew Wagner Named FOX6 High School Hot Shot of the Week
"The energy is just, it is so high. It is one thing to be in the weight room all winter but then coming out here and putting the cleats on, putting the helmets on, it's just a different intensity." – Drew Wagner
Wagner is truly deserving of this recognition, as he was an absolute hot shot in two state appearances for Kettle Moraine in 2023-24. He was part of a tight-knit group who gave us an incredible football season that culminated in a Division II State Title. He also made an appearance in Madison as a key player and team leader on the basketball court, where he was unwavering in his performance, despite a serious shoulder injury.
Receiving championship rings a few weeks ago must have felt a little surreal to Wagner and his teammates, given the time that has passed. Still, it was a great reminder of why their grueling practice schedule matters. The Lasers are focused on a new football season, in a new stadium, with a number of new players… hoping for the same result. We have no doubt the experience of last season will guide them. They are optimistic and hungry.
As for Wagner, he's a senior now, and will embrace his leadership role with an even greater understanding of what lies ahead. He has plans, and is working toward a goal.
"I am going to play football at the Naval Academy," said Wagner. "Super excited to join that brotherhood. I just thought it was where I wanted to be and where I wanted to play. And I am thinking about going into the Marines after. So you can pick the Navy or the Marines. I am thinking about going the Marine route."
Congratulations Drew. We are looking forward to another exciting year!
